SOME FACTS ABOUT COSMOLOGY-AKASHGANGA OR MILKYWAY
Our galaxy is “Milky Way Galaxy” or “Akash Ganga” is very unique in its form. it is spiral in shape. over billions of stars rotating and revolving about its center. “Andromeda” is the nearest galaxy. Around 17 billion years ago cosmic matters was in compressed state and an explosion broke up the matter into fragments and cast those into space. It is from these fragments of matter that our galaxies have been formed (Big Bang Theory).
Stars are the important part of our galaxy these are self luminous bodies. Star forming matters are rich in hydrogen and helium. Stars in our galaxy are situated far from our mother planet. A “Light Year” usually a unit of distance covered by light in one year in vacuum at a speed of 3*105 km/s. Again “Astronomical Unit” is also a unit of measurement where one light year equals to 60000 A.U. Stars are self luminous bodies hence its color indicates the temperature of its surface. “Blue” colour denotes maximum temperature, then comes “Yellow” and “Red”.
Stars having gigantic dimensions are termed “Red Giants”. If a star is of Sun’s size it is termed “White Dwarf”. Again if it is bigger than that of the Sun then it is termed ” Neutron Star” or “Pulsar”. The stars having mass greater than three times that of the Sun has a great gravitational power, it is so dense that nothing can escape from gravity (even light) and hence called “Black Hole”.
In this post “SOME FACTS ABOUT COSMOLOGY-AKASHGANGA OR MILKYWAY” we are discussing the facts related to cosmology. Besides this topic the heavenly bodies that forms this galaxy are also interesting. The sun is the only source of energy and the center of formation of milkyway. Though there are lots of theories and experiments on the formation of this galaxy, it cannot be denied that every theory has the probability that can be taken to granted.
